What is the nearest airport?

The closest airports are Brisbane Airport (BNE) and Gold Coast Airport (OOL). Brisbane Airport is approximately 1.5 hours by car, and Gold Coast Airport is around 1 hour from Mount Tamborine.

How do I get from the airport to Mount Tamborine?

The easiest way is by car hire. Taxis and Uber are also available from both airports. If you’re not planning to rent a car, we recommend arranging transport in advance, as ride availability can be limited late at night.

Should I rent a car?

Yes, we highly recommend renting a car, especially if you’re staying for a few days. Mount Tamborine is a beautiful area, but public transport is limited and having a car will make getting around much easier.

When should I arrive?

If you’re travelling internationally, we suggest arriving at least one day before the wedding to allow time to recover from travel and time zone changes. Many guests are planning to turn the trip into a holiday — we’d love that!

Where should I stay?

We recommend staying on or near Mount Tamborine or in the Gold Coast hinterland. There are a range of boutique hotels, Airbnbs, and resorts nearby. Please visit our Travel & Accommodation page for suggested places to stay.

Are there hotel blocks or special rates?

Yes — we’ve provisionally booked the entire Pethers Raintreat resort. If you’d like to stay there, please select “yes” on your RSVP and we’ll send full booking details closer to the wedding.

What events are happening and when?

We’ll be celebrating across a few days, including: Wedding Ceremony & Reception Sunday Pool Party / Recovery Day Full details, timings, and locations will be shared closer to the date on this website.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Please aim to arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony start time to allow for seating and to enjoy a relaxed arrival.

Why is this a weekend celebration?

We wanted this to feel less like a “one-night wedding” and more like a proper long weekend together. Many of our guests are travelling from interstate or overseas, so rather than rush everything into one day, we’ve spread it out: Friday 11 Dec – Welcome dinner & relaxed catch-ups for international arrival and wedding party Saturday 12 Dec – Wedding ceremony + main celebration Sunday 13 Dec – Bigger celebration & Pool party You’re welcome to attend whatever makes most sense.

How long should I plan to stay?

International guests We recommend 10-14 nights minimum in Australia if you can. Many guests will combine the wedding with time on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Whitsundays or Byron Bay. Interstate guests A 3–4 night stay works perfectly (Thu–Mon or Fri–Mon). Gold Coast / Brisbane locals You’re very welcome to come up just for the day or stay overnight — Tamborine is only about 45–60 minutes from the Coast.

Can we bring kids?

Yes — kids are very welcome. The Sunday pool party is especially family-friendly The Saturday ceremony is open to children, but please note the evening celebration will be more adult-oriented later on If you’d prefer a child-free night, there are excellent babysitting options on the mountain and nearby — we can help connect you.

What kind of entertainment should we expect?

Think fun, relaxed, and a little unexpected, rather than formal or stiff. Across the weekend you can expect: Live music and/or DJ sets Great food, drinks, and atmosphere A mix of chilled daytime vibes and proper celebration at night A few surprises (we’re keeping some magic under wraps 😉) This is very much a “good energy, no pressure” wedding.

What time will things wrap up?

Saturday nights will go into the evening Sunday is intentionally slower and relaxed finishing mid evening We’re mindful of neighbours and local guidelines, so celebrations will wind down respectfully — but there will be plenty of time to enjoy yourselves.

Do we have to attend everything?

Not at all. Come for what works for you — one event, two, or all three. We’re just happy to have you there in whatever way suits your life and travel plans.

What should we bring?

Comfortable shoes A light jacket for cooler mountain evenings Swimmers & sunscreen Any medications you need A relaxed mindset — this is not a rigid schedule kind of weekend

Are gifts expected?

Absolutely not expected. Your presence is genuinely what matters most to us. If you would like to give something, we’ll share an optional wishing well / honeymoon fund closer to the date — but please don’t feel any obligation.

Who can we contact with questions?

We’ll share a wedding contact and live updates closer to the date, and of course you can always reach out to us directly.

What should we wear?

Saturday (Wedding Day): Dress to celebrate — cocktail to semi-formal. Sunday (Pool Party): Swimmers, casual clothes, sunscreen, good vibes.

Where should we stay?

If not selecting Pethers Rainforest Retreat which we booked out then Tamborine Mountain offers a great mix of accommodation options to suit everyone: Boutique hotels – ideal for couples or shorter stays Cottages & Airbnbs – perfect for families or groups travelling together Larger homes & villas – highly recommended for bigger groups, with excellent options at places like Pethers Rainforest Retreat and other large luxury properties around the mountain If you’re travelling as a group or family, we strongly suggest booking a larger house or Airbnb, as these offer better value, shared spaces, and are much easier logistically. We’ll provide a recommended accommodation list and booking tips, but please note that December is a very busy time on the mountain, so booking early is highly encouraged.
